TEACHING ARTISTS & ASSISTANTS
to work in our programs in New York City public schools and social service agencies during the day, after school, and during summers. Applicants must have a background in education and a bachelor’s degree; teaching experience is strongly preferred. VOLUNTEER DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
with proposal writing ability to work about 5 hours a week (on Wednesday afternoons).
Tasks would include:
    • Learning about the work of Doing Art Together and becoming familiar with programs
    • Assisting with proposals currently underway by adding requested information such as annual audit, board list, mission statement, organizational budgets, publications, photographs, etc; helping to develop a proposal program budget
    • Researching to identify new potential funders
    • Writing compelling proposals
    • Rewriting/writing proposals tailored to specific stated interests of the foundation or corporation—i.e. early childhood education, GED students, etc.
    • Tracking and maintenance of our present funders, i.e. keeping a calendar of due dates, submitting proposals, writing thank you letters for grants received, interim reports and final reports to funders.
    • Helping to develop a strategic plan and cultivate individual donors
    • Cultivating corporate and foundation and individual connections by setting up meetings; setting up observation of a program; maybe even hosting a wine & cheese reception
    • Developing human interest stories to connect people with our program
    • Showing how art impacts the lives of students.
